We all have that one horse. THE one that becomes a part of us. The one that starts with many a sentence that goes"remember the time Cody...While she passed the 20 year milestone years ago she has been a constant companion, a producer of outstanding babies and she is still a part of our lives and a reminder of what being owned by a horse is what most of this is about. Sharing in her life has made mine so much richer and it continues to do so.

This is the one that taught me humility-after I picked myself up and dusted my backside off and got back on. The one that taught me when I was weak, she would take care of me. The mare that broke the stallion out because she felt she was not too old to be bred and gave us a huge surprise one July afternoon. The one that assists the new mothers birthing their foals and helps clean up the new life. |

A family portrait-Cody with two of the colts she produced-Squealor-the bay and the one she had the morning of my graduation from college that had everyone asking us what the yellow stuff on our hands was-(Iodine). Shakespeare-the one who decided poeple were finally o.k. |

Dodgin Ducks-the colt that didn't want to be weaned. |

Vegas-the filly that was born the minute I left for Las Vegas. I knew she was waiting until I left and made bets that she would have her the minute I left. She foaled 10 hours after I left.

Snapper-the surprise-the colt that we found in our pasture. We had retired Cody from broodmare status. She suffered an injury that destroyed much of her shoulder blade and was retired from riding. We decided that we would not bred her again-that she deserved a rest and could be a "lady of leisure". Fortunately she decided otherwise! |
